3 major US drug distributors, McKesson, Cardinal Health, and Cencora, settle opioid epidemic claims for $300m in federal court.

3 major US drug distributors, McKesson, Cardinal Health, and Cencora (previously AmerisourceBergen), have agreed to pay $300m to resolve claims by health insurers and benefit plans that they contributed to the US opioid epidemic. As part of thousands of lawsuits filed to hold drugmakers, distributors, and pharmacies liable for the drug addiction crisis, this settlement is part of over $50bn in settlements reached primarily with states and local governments. The proposed class action settlement, filed in federal court in Cleveland, Ohio, requires a judge's approval and will see McKesson pay 38.1%, Cardinal 30.9%, and Cencora 31%.
