Character.AI lays off 5% staff, focuses on personalized AI, signs deal with Google.
Chatbot startup Character.AI has laid off 5% of its staff, mainly from marketing and recruitment roles, as it repositions to focus on personalized AI products. The company recently signed a deal with Google, granting the search engine giant a non-exclusive license to its large language model tech & providing Character.AI additional funding. The startup raised $193m in venture capital prior to this.
