33-year-old Alexander Komthongpane, a suspected thief of car parts at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, died in a car crash after refusing to stop for police. Komthongpane was previously known to officers for multiple catalytic converter thefts and larceny of motor vehicle cases. During the chase, three BMW sedans were discovered stripped of wheels and tires on Old Dowd Road and Josh Birmingham Parkway, with the stolen wheels linked to Komthongpane's vehicle.
