Venezuela's capital Caracas and several states experienced a widespread power outage on August 30. The government of President Nicolas Maduro blamed "electrical sabotage," but provided no evidence. Communications Minister Freddy Nanez reported that officials are working to restore power, and that all 24 of Venezuela's states were impacted. The government has previously attributed power outages to opponents during periods of political unrest.
