US CPSC warns public to dispose of magnetic chess games "Magnetic Chess Games" by China-based JOMO due to ingestion risks, non-compliant magnets, and eight related deaths.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns the public to dispose of magnetic chess games called "Magnetic Chess Games" due to ingestion risks, particularly for children. Manufactured by China-based company JOMO, these games contain magnets non-compliant with US federal safety regulations and pose serious injury or death hazards. The CPSC issued a violation notice to JOMO but no recall agreement has been reached. These games were sold on Walmart's website in a blue box with the word "Magnetic" on it. The CPSC is aware of eight related deaths connected to the ingestion of hazardous magnets between 2005 and 2021.
