Kerala makes history with Sarada Muraleedharan becoming first spouse to succeed as state's Chief Secretary, following her husband V Venu's retirement. This marks a first in the state's bureaucratic history, despite many instances of husband-wife civil servants serving as District Collectors. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the change during V Venu's farewell ceremony.
