South Korea begins hiring 100 Filipino nannies to address low birth rate and affordability gap in childcare.

South Korea introduces a program to hire foreign nannies, starting with 100 Filipino nannies, to tackle its lowest-in-the-world birth rate and address the need for affordable childcare. The country plans to bring in 1,200 foreign nannies by 2025, despite concerns about cost, as the first phase involves 157 households, mostly dual-income families and wealthy residents in the Gangnam neighborhood. Previous government efforts to boost fertility, like providing 380 trillion won ($284 billion) in incentives, have not shown significant results.
