Pakistan's Punjab government approves Rs14/unit electricity subsidy for 201-500 unit consumers, providing a Rs46bn relief package.

Pakistan's Punjab government has approved a Rs14 per unit subsidy on August and September electricity bills for consumers using between 201 to 500 units in Punjab and Islamabad, providing a relief package of Rs46 billion ($230 million) for the residents. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who also announced the province's first-ever climate-resilient Punjab Vision and Action Plan 2024. Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman was absent from the meeting, sparking speculations of his exclusion due to his recent remarks on the issue.
