Mexican drug cartel violence erupts in Culiacan following the arrest of cartel co-founder and the recent attack on a military patrol.

Shootings, roadblocks, and arson erupted in Culiacan, home to Mexico's most powerful Sinaloa drug cartel led by jailed kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and his sons. This followed the arrest of cartel co-founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and the recent attack on a military patrol, with roadblocks in the district where Ovidio Guzman, El Chapo's son, was arrested in January. The US has issued a $10m reward for information leading to the arrest of El Chapo's remaining free son, Ivan Archivaldo.
