Maryland Governor Wes Moore admitted to falsely claiming to have received the Bronze Star medal during his 2022 political campaign. The issue surfaced when television interviewers introduced him as a Bronze Star recipient and he did not correct them. His staff insisted he never made the claim, but a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the New York Times revealed that Moore indeed claimed to have received the Bronze Star on his White House fellowship application in January 2006. Moore has not officially been awarded the Bronze Star.
