Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh aims to restore peace within six months between Kuki-zo and Meitei ethnic groups, appointing an emissary for talks with their leaders.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh promises to restore peace within six months with Centre's help, appointing an emissary to hold talks with Kuki-zo and Meitei leaders. The ongoing conflict between the Kuki-zo and Meitei ethnic groups has resulted in 226 deaths since May 2023. Singh refuses to grant a separate state for the Kuki community and rules out resignation, stating he has saved the state from illegal migration and poppy cultivation. He believes dialogue is the only way to solve the issue and has emphasized that he does not want to identify himself as a Meitei when sitting on the official chair, as he is the Chief Minister for all.
