EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell proposed sanctions on two unidentified Israeli ministers for allegedly inciting hatred against Palestinians and breaking international law. The proposal, supported by Ireland, was presented for discussion at an EU foreign affairs ministers meeting. Borrell stated that the sanctions would target ministers behind "unacceptable hate messages against Palestinians" and actions contrary to international law. The possibility of the 27 EU member states' agreement on the proposal is uncertain given some countries' strong support for Israel.
