Woman's sepsis death due to undiagnosed gallstones at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Ombudsman finds preventable.

The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has found that a woman's death from sepsis could have been prevented if she had received appropriate treatment for her pancreatitis at Wrexham Maelor hospital. The Ombudsman's report revealed that Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board failed to diagnose Mrs K's gallstones, which may have contributed to her fatal infection. The board has apologized and will pay Mrs K's daughter £4,000 while reviewing its handling of the case.
