UK Royal Veterinary College study finds no health advantage for designer cross-breed dogs over purebred counterparts.
A large-scale study by the UK's Royal Veterinary College found no significant health advantages for designer cross-breed dogs such as Cockapoos, Labradoodles, and Cavapoos over their purebred counterparts. The research surveyed 9,402 UK owners of these crossbreeds and their parent breeds, discovering a similar risk of disease for both groups. Contrary to popular belief, crossbreeds were not found to always be healthier than purebreds, suggesting owners should concentrate on specific health issues, breed size, and behavioral needs for their lifestyle.
