SK Hynix, the second-largest memory chip maker, has developed the world's first 10nm sixth-generation DRAM chip, named 16Gb 1c DDR5, which has reduced power consumption and improved power efficiency by more than 9% compared to its predecessor. This advancement could potentially help data centers reduce electricity costs by up to 30% during the ongoing AI boom. SK Hynix plans to begin volume shipments of the new chip next year.
