Researchers create AI-driven DOOM game engine, GameNGen, simulating classic game in real-time.
Researchers from Google and Tel Aviv University created AI game engine, GameNGen, that simulates classic DOOM game in real-time, at over 20 frames per second. Using reinforcement and diffusion models, it generates frames based on player's actions and past frames. Trained specifically on DOOM, the approach could apply to numerous titles, potentially paving the way for future real-time AI-driven video game engines.
