The Oven Mountain hydro energy storage project in Australia moves closer to construction as the Department of Planning and Environment evaluates its Environmental Impact Statement and addresses concerns raised by local councils. The project, expected to begin in late 2024 and finish in 2029, will provide 900 MW of dispatchable generating capacity and long-term energy storage. Armidale Regional Council will receive $600,000 annually for the project's life to contribute to its Future Fund.
