NZ's Māori TV cuts leadership roles, shifts Te Reo to online, focuses on fewer projects, and aims to save $9.5m.

NZ's Māori TV broadcaster Whakaata Māori plans to cut its senior leadership team in half, reduce its exclusively Māori language channel Te Reo to an online-only platform, and focus on fewer high-impact projects. CEO Shane Taurima states the changes are necessary for promoting te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, while Māori Development spokesperson Hūhana Lyndon criticizes the government for inadequate funding. The broadcaster aims to save $9.5m over the next few years.
