Music supervisor Tony Von Pervieux secured 21 Tom Petty covers for Apple TV+ series "Bad Monkey", with artists expressing enthusiasm for the project and attaining the Petty estate's approval.
Music supervisor Tony Von Pervieux of Apple TV+ series "Bad Monkey" shares that it was easy to secure Tom Petty covers for the show. Initially, the plan was to include 10 Petty covers, but this increased to 21. Von Pervieux found it easy to persuade artists, with everyone he approached expressing enthusiasm for the project and their love for Tom Petty. The soundtrack, released on October 4th, includes covers from artists like Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Weezer, Jason Isbell, and Sharon Van Etten. Von Pervieux emphasized the importance of obtaining the Petty estate's approval, especially from Tom Petty's daughter Adria, who was kept in the loop throughout the process. The only requirement set by the estate was that no lyrics could be changed.
