Lummus Technology wins contract to build ethylene unit for Kazakhstan's first polyethylene plant.

Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and energy solutions, has been awarded a contract to build an ethylene unit for Kazakhstan's first polyethylene plant, which is expected to contribute to the country's economy by increasing GDP, creating jobs, and fostering business opportunities. The plant, located at the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark in Kazakhstan's Atyrau Region, will utilize Lummus' ethylene technology to convert ethane from the Tengiz oil field into 1.3 million tons of ethylene per year, utilizing Short Residence Time (SRT®) heaters and an olefins recovery system. Lummus Technology has secured nearly 50% of new project awards since 2000 and licensed over 200 ethylene plants worldwide, representing around 45% of global ethylene capacity.
