France agrees to PIF visit to New Caledonia in September to address political crisis over voting reforms.

France agreed to a Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) visit to New Caledonia, following breakthrough talks in Tonga. The PIF delegation, comprised of leaders from Cook Islands, Tonga, Solomon Islands, and Fiji, will visit the overseas French territory in September. The visit aims to address the political crisis caused by disagreement over voting reforms opposed by the pro-independence movement. The crisis has been ongoing since the riots in May that led to 11 deaths and widespread damage.
