Drax agreed to pay £25m fine to Ofgem for misreporting biomass sustainability data at its power plant.

UK's largest power station owner, Drax, has agreed to pay a £25m fine to energy regulators Ofgem after admitting to misreporting data on the sustainability of biomass used at its wood-burning power plant. The investigation by Ofgem revealed that Drax lacked the necessary data governance and controls in place, resulting in inaccurate reporting of data about the forestry type and sawlog content being used. Drax will pay £25m to its voluntary redress fund, and while Ofgem currently has no reason to believe there have been further instances of non-compliance, it will not hesitate to act if required.
