Delhi High Court lifts stay on Tharoor's defamation case for 2018 remark; trial to proceed in lower court.

Delhi High Court has rejected Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's plea to quash a defamation case filed against him for a 2018 remark comparing PM Narendra Modi to a "scorpion sitting on a Shivling". The court lifted the interim stay and directed the parties involved to appear in the trial court on September 10. The complaint was filed by BJP leader Rajiv Babbar, who alleged that Tharoor's statement hurt the sentiments of Lord Shiva devotees. The trial will now proceed in the trial court.
