China increases clean energy consumption to 26.4% of total energy, leading global renewable capacity additions.

China has significantly increased clean energy consumption, with 26.4% of its total energy now sourced from clean energy, according to a white paper published by the State Council Information Office. Wind and solar capacity in China has increased tenfold over the past decade and the country is now responsible for over 40% of annual global renewable energy capacity additions since 2013. Amidst being the world's largest greenhouse gas emitter, China has pledged to peak its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
