Albuquerque Public Schools sets reading and math proficiency goals, implements new units and training, expands fine arts, and creates an attendance alert program for interventions.

Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) Superintendent Gabriella Blakey and Board President Danielle Gonzales emphasized reading and math proficiency for students in the district's future goals. They aim to have third-graders proficient in reading, eighth-graders proficient in math, and all seniors graduate on time. To address these challenges, APS implemented new study units, trained principals and teachers on literacy development, expanded fine arts programs, and created a program to alert staff and students about attendance and academic challenges, enabling interventions for students and their families.
