37-year-old UK resident Habibur Rahman charged for operating an illegal crypto ATM and laundering £300k in criminal cash.

37-year-old Habibur Rahman, a resident of East Ham, London, became the first UK individual charged with operating an illegal cryptocurrency ATM. On April 28, Kent Police searched Gadcet shop in Chatham High Street and seized several crypto ATMs, one public. Rahman is also accused of laundering £300,000 in criminal cash through crypto. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) warns that the crypto industry remains largely unregulated and high risk, advising consumers to be prepared to lose all their money when engaging with such machines. Rahman is set to appear in Medway Magistrates' Court on October 10.
