Irish Education Minister examines measures to address teacher shortage as INTO warns of primary & special education crisis.

Irish Education Minister Norma Foley is examining various measures to address teacher recruitment issues, as the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO) warns of a severe crisis threatening primary and special education. With 74,000 teachers currently in the system, the government is engaging with stakeholders in education and has introduced measures such as a €2,000 bursary for those completing a master's in education, a 20% increase in teacher training places, and free upskilling courses. The Minister also suggested that cost of living measures, such as rental breaks, could be introduced to address the situation.
