Indian Government expands Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF) scheme, aimed at enhancing and strengthening agricultural infrastructure. Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approves expansions to make the scheme more attractive, impactful, and inclusive. AIF now includes projects for community farming assets, integrated primary and secondary processing, and supports sustainable energy solutions through PM-KUSUM's Component-A convergence. AIF credit guarantee coverage for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) extended through NABSanrakshan Trustee Company Pvt Ltd. Since launch in 2020, AIF has funded 6,623 warehouses, 688 cold stores, and 21 silos, with a total storage capacity of around 500 LMT. Expansion aims to drive growth, improve productivity, enhance farm incomes, and contribute to the overall sustainability of agriculture in India.
