Dutch DPA fines Uber €290m for GDPR violation over data transfer to US without protection.

The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has fined Uber €290m ($324m) for transferring personal data of European drivers to the US without appropriate protection, in violation of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The DPA claims that Uber failed to protect sensitive information of drivers, including account details, taxi licenses, location data, photos, payment information, identity documents, and criminal and medical data.
