On August 27, a black bear sow and her two cubs were spotted in Uptown Butte, Montana near Park Street and Excelsior Street, feeding on garbage cans. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks set up baited traps to catch and relocate the bears, advising residents to use extreme caution and avoid the area. Game wardens and police officers were on the scene, urging the public not to approach the bears if spotted.
