Bangladesh's interim government led by Muhammad Yunus lifts ban on Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami.

Bangladesh's interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has lifted the ban on Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami, reversing the ban enacted on August 1 by the former administration. The party, which has been banned from contesting elections since 2013, now needs to register with the Election Commission to participate in upcoming polls. The ban was initially imposed by Sheikh Hasina's government, who accused Jamaat-e-Islami of inciting violence during student protests.
