Ohio State University develops AI tool SepsisLab to improve sepsis prediction accuracy in healthcare.

Ohio State University researchers have developed an AI tool called SepsisLab to assist clinicians in managing sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by the body's overreaction to infections. SepsisLab identifies missing patient information, quantifies its importance, and offers a visual representation of how specific data will impact the final risk prediction. With an 11% improvement in sepsis prediction accuracy by incorporating 8% of the recommended additional data, the system puts physicians in the driver's seat, involving AI in every intermediate step of decision-making, and aims to revolutionize healthcare through human-centered technology.
