Zimbabwe's CNRG supports legalizing the government's alluvial mining ban, calls for Mines and Minerals Act amendments.
Zimbabwe's Centre for Natural Resource Governance (CNRG) calls for legal backing of the government's ban on alluvial mining, announced last week, to prevent environmental degradation and community displacement.
The ban aims to address water pollution, siltation, and disruption of riverine ecosystems.
The CNRG also urges comprehensive amendments to the 1961 Mines and Minerals Act to align Zimbabwe's mining laws with international best practices, promote sustainable development, and ensure responsible and equitable exploitation of mineral resources.
