30-year-old Caleb Jochen Carter of Berkeley County, SC, faces child death charges for placing a child in his custody at risk, causing harm, and willful abandonment. The child died in October 2020 from an upper airway obstruction caused by an unsafe mouthpiece. Carter, arrested and booked in the Edgefield County Detention Center, will be prosecuted by the 11th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
