South Dublin County Council rejects Google's Grange Castle data centre plan due to electricity capacity and renewable energy concerns.

South Dublin County Council has rejected Google Ireland's planning application for a new data centre at Grange Castle Business Park due to insufficient capacity in the electricity network and lack of on-site renewable energy. The proposed facility would have created 800 construction jobs and 50 operational positions but faced concerns over carbon emissions and strained electricity grid. Google Ireland can appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanála.
