Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has spent N28.7bn out of N31.7bn allocated for electrification projects in 2023, with projects covering all six geopolitical zones, 36 states, and the FCT. REA completed projects worth over N28.7bn, with N6.3bn spent on connecting communities to the grid. The agency aims to electrify 17.5 million Nigerians through its Distributed Energy System (DES) project, the largest public sector-funded off-grid project globally.
