40-year-old Cara Dugan, a Kearney woman, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse after leaving her 3-month-old baby unattended in a hot vehicle at the Merrick County Fairgrounds. The infant was discovered crying by a concerned citizen and found to be uninjured after being examined at a local hospital. Dugan was placed in jail on one count of child abuse, and the child has been placed in the care and custody of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
