UK brewers warn of potential end for iconic bottled beers due to new packaging levy.
UK brewers warn of potential end for iconic bottled beers due to a new packaging levy. Introduced by the UK government, the levy aims to make manufacturers financially responsible for recycling and handling packaging waste, but brewers argue it may impose "eye-watering" additional costs and force out many bottled beer brands, reducing choice and profit for brewers. The British Beer and Pub Association, Independent Family Brewers of Britain, Campaign for Real Ale, and the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates have collectively warned that the new charges could lead to price increases for consumers, fuel inflation, and the end of many traditional bottled ales.
