Taoiseach Simon Harris pledges to increase special education therapy support in October budget, starting a pilot program in September for selected schools in Cork and Dublin.

Taoiseach Simon Harris has committed to increase special education therapy provision in the October budget, stating the current offering is not sufficient. He emphasized that finances should not be a constraint when hiring staff to provide such therapies. The Fine Gael leader has revealed that a pilot program, starting in September for the remainder of the academic year, will provide in-school therapy support for children in selected special schools in Cork and Dublin, with the HSE's Children's Disability Network Teams involved. Harris also acknowledged the concerns of parents who were dissatisfied with not being included in the pilot and plans to engage with colleagues to explore further assistance.
