Pakistan approves $218m to fund Operation Azm-e-Istehkam to combat militants, reassure China, and protect its investments in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Pakistan has approved an additional $218m to fund Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, aimed at combating militants in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While the operation targets Islamist terror networks, it's primarily to reassure China and protect its investments in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The US has approved $101m in aid to combat terrorism and support economic reforms, while its budget proposal for South and Central Asia includes $1.01bn in foreign assistance to compete with China's influence, counter disinformation, and prevent terrorist groups from threatening US security.
