Kenyan President William Ruto has defended the new university funding model, assuring students incorrectly placed in financial aid bands that they can appeal. Out of 134,000 students who applied for funding, 26,000 have appealed, stating they were placed in bands not reflecting their financial situation. The president acknowledged concerns and assured students that issues can be corrected. The banding system has existed since 1996, and Ruto plans to continue refining it.
