Jamaica's Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke will become the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Deputy Managing Director from October 31, 2024, according to Prime Minister Andrew Holness. This appointment marks a historic first for a Jamaican or Caribbean citizen in the IMF's 80-year history. Clarke will succeed Antoinette Sayeh, who is set to step down on September 12.
