24-year-old Rural Metro firefighter recruit, Cody Treatch, died on 23rd August after suffering a heat-related emergency during his training on 14th August. Treatch was remembered for his kindness, determination, and positive impact on others. His baseball team at Southwestern College expressed their condolences on Facebook, and various departments held a motorcade in his honor. Rural Metro Fire Chief Karl Isselhard focused on supporting the Treatch family and their personnel during this difficult time.
