2021 WordTips study finds U.S.-based Twitter users use most curse words per 1,000 tweets, with Maryland ranking highest.
A recent study by WordTips reveals that U.S.-based social media users on former Twitter platform use curse words more than any other country studied, with an average of 41.6 foul-mouthed tweets per 1,000. Maryland ranks highest in states with profanity in tweets at 66.3 tweets per 1,000, followed by Louisiana and Georgia. Cities with the most profanity in tweets are Baltimore, Baton Rouge, and Atlanta. The study's methodology, however, may not represent offline swearing habits accurately.
