Woodside Energy and Rio Tinto pledge $60m to UQ's bio-sustainability hub for waste emission transformation.

Woodside Energy and Rio Tinto have pledged $60 million to the University of Queensland's new bio-sustainability hub. This hub aims to utilize synthetic biology processes, including carbon-eating bacteria, to transform waste emissions into lower-carbon fuels and materials. The technology could potentially reduce harmful emissions from gas production and decrease the amount of jet fuel made from crude oil.
