Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Md Omar Faruk requests lists of individuals pardoned by Bangladesh's President since 1991 under Article 49, plans to file a High Court petition if not provided.

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Md Omar Faruk has issued a legal notice to Bangladesh's Home Secretary, Law Secretary, Cabinet Secretary, and the President's Office Secretary, requesting lists of individuals whose sentences were commuted, suspended, or reduced by the President since January 1991 under Article 49 of the constitution. Faruk seeks the information within 15 days to investigate potential political motivations behind the president's pardons and expresses concern over the release of convicted murderers who have become "mafia dons" and spread fear in society. If the required list is not provided, he plans to file a petition at the High Court.
