Nigeria's NIA Director-General, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, resigns, citing personal reasons.

Nigeria's National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Director-General Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has resigned from his position, citing personal and family reasons. Abubakar, who has been in office since 2018, thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve during the first 15 months of the current administration and assured that he would continue to support the administration on security matters and maintain a strong relationship with the President. His tenure was extended in December 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
