2024 manned Starliner flight aborted, astronauts transferred to SpaceX mission due to helium leaks and thruster failures.

Boeing's Starliner spacecraft has faced multiple setbacks and delays, leading to a budget overrun of $1.6bn. Initially awarded a $4.2bn contract to develop a spacecraft capable of carrying astronauts to the ISS, Starliner has experienced issues including a failed unmanned flight in 2019, problems with valves and moisture in 2021, and concerns over parachutes and flammable adhesive tape in 2023. In June 2024, during its first manned flight, Starliner experienced helium leaks and thruster failures, causing NASA to transfer the two astronauts to a SpaceX mission.
