Yemen's military intercepted three Houthi drones carrying explosives targeting the Safer oil facility in Marib Governorate on Aug. 23. The drones were launched from Al-Jawf Governorate, northern Yemen, but were intercepted before reaching their targets. Yemen's ongoing conflict began in late 2014, with Houthi rebels controlling the capital, Sanaa, and significant parts of the country. A UN-brokered truce in April 2022 reduced hostilities, but Yemen continues to face economic difficulties and political divisions.
