Trai proposes to reduce PDO broadband charges to match retail user tariffs, aiming to accelerate PM-WANI scheme.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) proposes to reduce broadband connection charges for public data offices (PDOs) providing public Wi-Fi services to match retail user tariffs. PDOs are currently charged 40-80 times more for 100 Mbps internet than retail users. Trai's proposal aims to address the low proliferation of public Wi-Fi hotspots in India and help accelerate the PM-WANI scheme by equalizing tariffs for PDOs and retail broadband connections.
